Career – Research Scientist – Strain Engineering

Are you a highly skilled and innovative researcher with a Ph.D. in Genetic Engineering, specializing in yeast and/or bacteria strains? SifoTEK® is looking for a dynamic individual to join our team!

Position: Research Scientist – strain Engineering
Location: Stavanger, Norway

Essential Qualifications:

• Dr. in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, or a related field.
• Proven expertise in gene insertion/deletion, genome engineering methodologies, and heterologous protein expression; specifically in yeast and bacterial strains.
• Hands-on experience with plasmid design, protein purification, yield optimization, and troubleshooting.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team-oriented environment.
• Excellent communication and documentation skills.

Desired Qualifications:

• Familiarity with metabolic pathway analysis and modelling for bioproduct yield optimization.
• Hands-on experience with CRISPR/Cas9 systems, both design and implementation.
• Prior experience with yeast/bacteria-based precision fermentation.
• A strong understanding of bioprocess technology.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct genetic engineering research on yeast and/or bacteria strains.
• Design and execute experiments to enhance strain performance, protein yield, and scale up output from laboratory to industrial setting.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate genetic advancements into product development.
• Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and contribute to the development of innovative solutions.
